The wedding....Mexico
It's so close now, after a full on year with a new born and the biggest projects to date done and dusted - it's been a massively rewarding and busy year and now a break is on the horizon. We leave Monday for Mexico to go see some of our besties get married and take in 12 days of sun, siesta, markets, crafts, cooking and serious relax-ationing.
Here's a few shots of the places we will be staying. Oh my. Get us there (swiftly, as we will have a one year old on our laps).

Butterfly Chair
This icon of mid 20th Century relaxation is still as much a must have for the patio, backyard , beachhouse or shop (!) as it was 50 years ago. The butterfly chair (also known as the Hardoy Chair) is a great choice for any room in the house or outside. My pick is this leather version with a copper frame. Also great for small living spaces - as they can be packed away and brought out when you have guests, although it would be a hard ask to pack it away out of sight.

The Society Inc - Chalkboard Paint
Sibella Court is a very clever lady, not only is she a really, really talented stylist, hunter/gather, retailer and author - she has just released a range of coloured chalkboard paints. Yes, coloured chalkboard paints. Quick off the mark following its launch today, I've already ordered some Whalebone (white) for A Shop Called Moth.

I've found the one..
I had a very successful sourcing day today, found 'the one', a beautiful workbench which will be the service counter for A Shop Called Moth. Also we locked in all the racks for the shop.

Back it up
I am slowing re-building my digital life, how naf does that sound. But it's true. My laptop died and I pretty much lost everything. Fortunately I'd backed up all my critical business info, but none of my many of folders full of beautiful reference imagery - all gone. Can't even think about all the photos from my son's first year, it's too heartbreaking. Devastating, but also an opportunity to start a fresh and gather new inspiration. A word to the wise - go now and back up your computer!

Fold School
Isn't the internet just the best...with a click we can become furniture makers, writers, critics or just lazy time wasters. Here's another great website that is doing their bit for recycling and design. Fold School is a website that provides free/low cost furniture through the clever re-use of materials. Great for any one with kids and a rainy day.
"Mass culture is run by superficiality and ecological absurdity. Foldschool supports craftsmanship as a face-to-face approach to design and brings together product and user the closest possible. The mindset of foldschool is to restore design to one of its original missions: to provide a product at an affordable price through a smart manufacturing process."
